Finally blog

The gamer pop-culture is big in Spain, the community of video gamers born itself with the games. Moreover, it comes bigger every day.  It has a boom with the e-sports that  takes the form of multiplayer video game competitions, individually or as teams.  The gamers are mostly young people often dress with hoodies sneakers and with colorful hair. They have huge events like the final of League of Legends and it has almost the same views as a Champions final. Also The queer culture is conformed by people who people who refuse to be classified by their sexual practices or their gender; they want to live without being labeled, by not identifying themselves. Their appearance is very heterogeneous, in general tries to break all gender stereotypes. And this culture becomes really popular with “Queer eye”, that is a series in Netflix. Finally, The  Basques are a tribe in Spain, Basques speak Spanish and only a few can speak the Basque language. When we talk about family, the eldest son inherits the family business when his father dies. The Basques works are involved in fishing and agriculture. The Basques are divided in half, in atheist and the agnostics or believers Education is like the others in Spain. 1. Colombia and Spain both are multilinear cultures. These cultures are known for being able to do several things at once, also for being impatient and have good excuses. In addition to this Spaniards and Colombians are used to display their emotions and to be very communicative (Talks most of the time).
  2. In the Hofstede model Colombia and Spain rank high in uncertainty avoidance and power distance. This means that both countries are rules for everything and social conservatism. They are religious countries. But rules are not necessarily followed. The high power index indicates the inequality of the nations, In Colombia is as high that people simply believe that inequalities amongst people are ok.
  3. I prefer the Lewis model because it is easier to understand and have a more clear classification. Also in my opinion Lewis Model focus in the behavior of the people and is really interesting how every country fits in a typology. Although there are only three multi-active, linear-active and Reactive.

Gender roles

First, both Colombia and Spain are considered macho countries. This means that they have a strong sense of masculine pride. Spaniards and Colombians men feel unrelenting pressure to achieve and demonstrate consistent masculinity in all spheres of their lives. In addition men are sexually free and do not suffer any judgment than women have to experience. Also the idea of family dynamics is that the man must provide for the woman and her children while the woman is a housewife. The new generation is changing this mentality but there is a long way to go. It’s important to stand out that I consider that Spain is changing this mentality quicker than Colombia. And maybe this is because they are close to no-macho European cultures.

Stereotypes spain

When we imagine spaniards we think in a tan man that’s In the beach with a glass of sangria. Also when we think about Spaniards the words loud, lazy, bullfighting and soccer cross in our minds. Those ideas come from different sources. One of them is the big soccer culture that Spain owns. They have two of the most known soccer teams Real Madrid and Barcelona. Regarding the landscape of the sea is what we usually see in the tourist advertising of this country. However, Spain have much more than only sea. They own the beautiful mountains of the Pyrenees and the picos de Europa where people practice skiing. The other stereotypes mostly come from movies and news that we see every day.
